Pellizzano is located on the even bottom of the valley and is crossed by the Noce river. This beautiful site of Trentino, with its centuries old history, offers not only a fascinating scenery of unspoilt surroundings, but culture plays also a big part. Tightly close around the sheltering tower of the church, an ancient Gothic-Renaissance evidence dedicated to the nativity of the Holy Virgin Mary, are located the houses with their typical main door jambs made of stone and the silent little courtyards. |

THE CHURCH OF SAINT MARY |

|
The building has been erected in the XVth century. Magnificent is the Gothic-Roman portal with splayed framework having several concentric rings and the elegant Clesian porch (1524). Its fan vault and the tympanum have frescoes of Simone Baschenis (the Four Evangelists, Annunciation - 1533). |

The wall on the right side showed before renovation works were carried out in 1951 after a fire, a large fresco depicting the legendary passing of Charlemagne. The same wall has long arched single-mullion windows with polychrome glass windows and gratings. |

The façade, with its steep sloping roof, is characterized by four late-Gothic buttresses, with the addition of a fifth on the square's side. Toward the graveyard there are two ogival windows. The interior is made up by a nave and two aisles, having vaults supported by granite pillars. In the keystones of each span, stone ceiling-roses have been set. The choir has been embellished with a rib pattern. On the opposite side of the church we can find the loggia of the so-called Scourgers friars. |

Well preserved are the frescoes: to the right the Saints, the most ancient Trentino period of the Baschenis (1470); on the head of the left aisle Our Lady of Grace, the saints Antonius and Vigilius, and the group of the hooded Scourgers together with members of the Canacci family which ordered the altar beside. |

On the left side there is a Baroque chapel with stucco-works and three altars which can be approached passing a wooden balustrade, late work of Simone Lenner (1626). The church centralizes its devotional themes around the figure of Mary, turning this place to a sanctuary devoted to the Holy Virgin, destination for periodical pilgrimages of the people of the Noce valleys. Each year, during the first days of September, the Nativity of Holy Mary is celebrated, the village is festooned and after a triduum of prayers, the procession through the streets with the statue of Our Lady of Grace takes place. |
